More Than Paint And Brushes.

AIX has been very educative, informative, and insightful. I have learnt numerous things from AIX, which I’ll never forget.
Firstly, I know my temperament and have learnt to step out of my comfort zone into my learning or panic zone. Again, I am now aware of my SWOT profile – Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and that it is necessary to face one’s weakness and make use of opportunities that come my way.
In a nutshell, the Creative Arts module has made a significant impact on my life. Most people look down on the Creative Arts module and would prefer the other modules. But what they do not know is that the Creative Arts module is the most versatile and innovative module, and all the participants in there have been transformed positively.

A Slap In The Face

AIX has been such an immersive and culture-shocking experience. At first, I was out off because I didn’t know anyone and no one knew me and I just felt like an outsider, both literally and figuratively. Slowly, I started making friends, whether that may be because some felt left our just like me or because we had a mutual feeling of exhaustion after classes.
I wasn’t expecting to become attached to this place and program. I try not to romanticize away trips such as these; however, I will miss this experience. It’s come down to the point where I’ve considered coming back to become a coach. I will miss the participants and even the coaches.
Everything has been a slap in the face of my reality, especially the cold showers😊.

Business In The Park

The Entrepreneurship Module had a fantastic time at the Legon Botanical Garden. We met some entrepreneurs and discussed with them. The conversation has inspired me to become an entrepreneur in the days to come. I also learnt a few things about entrepreneurship. The people we met also told us we do not need a huge capital to set up our business. It was an awesome trip overall, and I will count it as an experience to always remember and cherish. As an entrepreneur, one must always be a critical thinker and also have the courage to face any ups and downs in one’s business. We enjoyed this trip, and we liked the food. A big thanks to one of the faculty members, Lenny, for his big surprise!

RoboDash

Winning the 1 Metre Dash in the Robotics Module was unexpected, to be very honest. From the beginning of the challenge, we were kind of confused. When we finally finished programming, our robot wouldn’t connect to the computer. Thinking we wouldn’t even be able to compete, we ended up winning! Our entire preparation required a lot of teamwork.

The Real Show

I hope to know more about what it means to own and run a business and how to be more business inclined. I expect to work in more teams, get to know more people, and try to find more like-minded people that I can work with after AIX.

Meet The Judges

The final design challenge was a fun interactive experience with the personas and coming up with the design for the posters was fascinating because everyone had an idea to share. This resulted in us winning the second position in our cohort. I learnt that teamwork is very beneficial wherever you go.

ELECTIONS 2019

To sum the AIX freestyle in one word, I will say it was “awesome.” I am quite shy and find it challenging to speak in public. However, this freestyle has enabled me to speak and express my views publicly confidently. I had the words “remote control” and was supposed to create a campaign speech with these words in, which seemed quite impossible. I was amazed at how I could create something meaningful and deliver it to everyone present.

GO CRAZY

This session was incredible. It gave us the chance to go wild and far outside the box. Afterward, we were encouraged to make our wild ideas realistic. As wild thoughts gave way for real ideas, ideation became easier. An example of this was the wild thought of making electric shoes that can make one fly at the press of a button. A more realistic idea was designing the shoes such that they massage the soles of the wearer’s feet to provide comfort.

COLA CITY

As a senior doctor in COLA Fanta City, I was determined to continue my profession till the day of my death. I was rude and annoying to people because of my old age and selfishness. I always gave bribes to the Minister of Health to retain my position instead of allowing fresh young doctors to gain work experience. This added to the unemployment issues in my city. The nurses in the hospital where I worked were lazy and impatient with the old, young, and poor patients who visited the facility.
From this activity, I learned that passion is necessary for everything one does. I also discovered that people should work in co-operation and not in competition. I believe more work needs to be done to motivate health workers. Patients also need to be educated on good health practices, and doctors should step back when it is time to retire.

HUMAN KNOT

The expectant AIX participants eagerly had their breakfast in anticipation of what was going to be one of the best days of their lives. My first day was much better than I could have ever anticipated. I learned so much about myself and my capabilities.
Firstly, the human knot was an incredible, original, and exciting way to learn that no problem is impossible, although it may seem so. Honestly, I thought my group was incapable of completing the task coming out of the mess we had created. However, the success of others tells me nothing is beyond my ability. I find it especially encouraging since I’m taking a rigorous course, IB, in my next two years of high school.

Additionally, I initially had the mindset that you are either born creative or not. Now, I honestly believe it is a skill that can be learned by thinking outside the box.
I will like to touch on the fantastic communication session we had. Firstly I must say the speaker had an amazing sense of humor that kept us engaged throughout the ride. I learned about varied ways of making an excellent speech, such as introducing an anecdote, maintaining eye contact, and keeping shuffling to a minimal.
I also made amazing new friends that I know for sure I would never forget.
Overall, it was an amazing day buzzing with excitement, and I cannot wait to experience the rest!
